Initial server setup

This topic collection provides an end-to-end setup checklist for you to use throughout the entire initial setup of your server. The checklist is intended to ensure that the system is capable of starting and that it is functional before you perform more complex and custom configurations.

• Hardware: Rack, expansion unit, and cabling it all together
• Console or interface: Hardware Management Console (HMC), Advanced System Management Interface, Integrated Virtualization Manager, Virtual Partition Manager, Operations Console, Thin Console, or twinaxial console
• Operating systems and logical partitions: AIX^®, Linux^®, and i5/OS^®
• Service and support: Operating system or HMC connection
