Which console will manage i5/OS(R)?
Twinaxial console The twinaxial console uses the command line interface to access and manage the server, and it does not require the use of a PC to act as a console. You access the server through a console screen, keyboard, and twinaxial cables. The twinaxial console requires a twinaxial cable connection from a workstation to the server. Thin Console The Thin Console for System i5(TM) provides a 5250 system console for the IBM i5/OS environment on select IBM System i5 and eServer i5(TM) models that are not managed by a Hardware Management Console (HMC). A cable connects this console device directly to an HMC port (either HMC 1 or HMC 2) on the back of the server and no other console device can be attached to the remaining HMC port.
