Le système utilise
RIO/HSL pour envoyer et recevoir des données client et des données de contrôle auxiliaire de et vers l'unité d'extension et télécharger le microprogramme de l'unité d'extension. Le réseau SPCN est utilisé pour commander l'alimentation des unités d'extension et comme sauvegarde aux
RIO/HSL du contrôle auxiliaire et du contrôle du microprogramme.
Les unités d'extension suivantes n'utilisent pas de câbles SPCN :
L'alimentation est commandée par les câbles UPIC de l'assemblage d'alimentation avant régulation (BPA) de l'armoire.
