Performing your data migration

Find information about preparing for and performing a data migration from both a source server that supports i5/OS^® V5R4 and a source server that does not support i5/OS V5R4.

This task describes how to migrate data from one server to another. Before you begin this task, be sure you have completed the tasks in Planning your data migration and Preparing for data migration.

You can migrate your data by using one of these paths:

• Completing the data migration with i5/OS V5R4 on the source server
  Use these instructions if you can load i5/OS V5R4 on your source server.
• Completing the data migration from i5/OS V5R3 or OS/400 V5R2 or V5R1
  If you cannot load i5/OS V5R4 on your source server, use these instructions. This task describes how to complete the data migration from a server running i5/OS V5R3 or OS/400 V5R2 or V5R1 to a target server.
• Completing the data migration from a Linux partition
  This information describes how to complete the data migration from a server running Red Hat^® Enterprise Linux^® or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to a server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 3 or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.
