Migrating or upgrading your server

Find information about migrating your data or upgrading your hardware from an IBM^® eServer™ i5, IBM eServer p5, iSeries™, or pSeries^® server.

Use the following information to help you migrate your data from one server to another, upgrade your server, upgrade a hardware feature, or convert an expansion unit.

Attention: The SCSI Adapter for External Media Devices (2768) feature is not supported in any IBM eServer i5 server (system unit or expansion unit). Damage to the server hardware might occur if the 2768 feature is installed.

• iSeries servers
  You can migrate your data from one server to another or upgrade to a new hardware feature, IBM i5/OS^® release, or server model if you are using an IBM eServer i5 or iSeries model.
• pSeries servers
  You can migrate IBM AIX^® to a new release, migrate your data from one server to another, upgrade your IBM eServer p5 or pSeries model to a new IBM System p5™ or eServer p5 model, or upgrade to a new hardware feature.
