Changing the mode of the emulator

There are times when you might need to change the mode of the emulator from its current setting to something wider or narrower depending on what you are viewing.

By default, the emulator is set to 24 X 80, so viewing a spool file or vlog requires you to use the keyboard to shift right and left in the window. In this case, it might be more convenient to use the 27 X 132 mode.
Important: During the transition from one mode to the other, the console is disconnected and reconnected.

To change the mode of the emulator, follow these steps:

  1. In the emulator window, click Communications.
  2. Select Configure, and then click Session Parameters.
  3. Select the desired screen size and click OK. Click OK again. You receive a message indicating the connection is terminated.
  4. Click OK. The emulator session closes.

If the option Allow console to be taken over by another console is not on, the console returns to the signon window and is in the correct mode. You can exit these instructions.

If the option Allow console to be taken over by another console is enabled, the console returns to the signon window, but the Console Information Status window and the option to perform a takeover are most likely set to NO. This is due to a change in the emulator's attributes and the new type does not match that of the current console when it connected. At this point, you must do one of the following:
