This is a solution for changing console tags without having to perform an IPL.
If you have a problem with Operations Console on a server or partition that is managed by a Hardware Management Console (HMC), there is a procedure that allows you to change the tags without requiring an IPL. This procedure might be needed to change console types to work around a problem or to just change which resource to use for the console if the console type is not changing, such as when an adapter fails and it cannot be replaced immediately. The use of the HMC command interface is required.
