Predefined checklist for Windows 2000: Local console on a network (LAN)

Complete the following checklist to set up a local console on a network (LAN) on Windows® 2000:
  1. Have you completed an initial server setup checklist?
    • Yes - Continue with the next step.
    • No - From the navigation menu, select Initial server setup and choose to create a customized setup checklist or use a predefined checklist. Complete the checklist tasks.
  2. Verify hardware requirements.
  3. Verify software requirements.
  4. Install iSeries™ Access for Windows.
  5. Apply iSeries Access for Windows service packs.
  6. Configure a service host name (interface name) on the server.
    Note: This step is not necessary if you are setting up a server for the first time. You will supply this name during the configuration wizard in step 8.
  7. Create service tools device IDs on the server.
    Note: This step is not necessary if you are setting up a server for the first time. Use the default service tools device ID, QCONSOLE, during the configuration wizard in step 8.
  8. Configure Operations Console on the PC.
  9. Start your connection.
