This topic provides instructions on how to create and configure
incoming connections in Windows® 2000.
Complete the following steps to create and configure incoming connections
for a PC with Windows 2000:
- Click .
- Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections.
- Double-click Make New Connection. The Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard window
is displayed.
- Click Next.
- Click Accept incoming connections, and then
click Next.
- Select the check box for the PC modem that is going to receive
the calls from the remote console through dial-up support.
Verify
the Operations Console Connection check box is not selected.
If other check boxes are selected, do not change them.
Click Next.
- Do not allow virtual private connections.
Note: If you
have a virtual private network (VPN), leave this check box cleared.
Then,
click Next.
- Select or add any users to dial into the local console. Click Next.
- Select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) check
box (if needed). Click Properties.
- Verify the Allow callers to access my local area network check
box is selected.
- If your network uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP),
click Specify TCP/IP addresses automatically using DHCP. Then, go to the next step. If your network does not use DHCP, click Specify
TCP/IP addresses. Then, do the following steps to specify the
addresses:
- In the From field, type the address 192.168.0.5
- In the To field, type the address 192.168.0.24
- The Total field displays 20
- Select the Allow calling computer to specify its own
IP address check box. Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish to save Incoming Connections.
