This topic provides considerations and instructions for installing
a modem on a PC running Windows® 2000.
If you are installing a PC modem that requires specific drivers,
use the instructions that the modem manufacturer provides. Otherwise, follow
these steps to install the PC modem:
- Click .
- Double-click Phone and Modem Options.
- Click the Modems tab.
- Click Add... to display the Install
New Modem panel, and then click Next.
- When the window displays the modem it finds, click Next to
accept it. The PC now loads the driver code to support it.
- Click Finish to return to the Phone
and Modem Options folder.
- Close the Phone and Modem Options folder.
- If you receive a message indicating you need to restart the PC
before you can use the modem, click OK. Then,
perform a shutdown and restart your PC. Otherwise, you might be prompted to
restart the PC. If this is the case, click Yes or OK to
perform the shutdown.
Note: If you are not prompted to restart the PC, restart
the PC to force a rewrite of changed data.
