Unable to sign on because of a lost or expired password or disabled user ID

Use this information to correct a problem when you are unable to access the takeover function.

If you have the special DST Sign-on window but are unable to sign on because of either a disabled user ID or expired password, you can attempt the steps of recovery by doing the following:

This causes the console to be lost temporarily. The device then becomes the console with a signon window appropriate to the system state, assuming that it matches the current console type setting. For example, if the system is IPLed to command entry, then you see the i5/OS Sign-on window. You can then sign on using any user ID with the authority to continue the recovery of the DST user ID that has the problem.

For more information about the DST user ID and passwords see, Service tools user IDs and passwords.
