hostname Command

Purpose

Sets or displays the name of the current host system.

Syntax

hostname [ HostName ]

Description

The hostname command sets or displays the name of the current host system.

Parameters

Exit Status

Examples

1. To set the hostname to rotterdam, type:

   hostname rotterdam
