Power Supply

Use this procedure to service the power supply.

  1. The power supply will be serviced non-concurrently.

Remove power from the enclosure containing the FRU. Powering off the enclosure is accomplished through the enclosure's host server. For additional information, refer to the "Powering on and powering off" topic located in the host server's service guide.

  2. Attention:

Failure to follow the step-by-step sequence for this FRU removal and/or installation may result in FRU or system damage.

Use the following precautions whenever you handle electronic components or cables.

    • Attach a wrist strap to an unpainted metal surface of your hardware to prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging your hardware.
    • If you do not have a wrist strap, just prior to removing the product from ESD packaging and installing or replacing hardware, touch an unpainted metal surface of the system for a minimum of 5 seconds.
    • Keep all electronic components in the shipping container or envelope until you are ready to install them.
    • If you remove, then re-install an electronic component, temporarily place the component on an ESD pad or blanket, if available.

  3. Remove the power supply.

    1. Disconnect the ac power cord (A) from the front of the power supply.
    2. Using the fastener knobs (B), pull the power supply (C) straight out of the system, supporting the bottom while you do this.
    3. Note: The fastener knobs need to be squeezed out through the holes in the chassis assembly to release the power supply.

    4. Disconnect the power supply cables from the rear of the power supply.

  4. Install the power supply.

    1. Connect the power supply cables into the rear of the power supply.
    2. Carefully insert and slide the power supply (A) straight into the system.
    3. Push the fastener knobs (B) into the holes in the chassis assembly.
    4. Connect the ac power cord (C) into the front of the power supply.
