The failing component is the VPD card.
After the part has been replaced and before powering on the system, make sure the system's Vital Product Data (VPD) is restored (see "Setting the system identifiers" in the service guide for the system, or see "Programming vital product data" in the Operations Guide for Systems not Managed by a Hardware Management Console, order number SA76-0094). The system will not IPL unless the VPD information is programed correctly.
