You need to configure virtual SCSI and virtual Ethernet
devices on the Virtual I/O Server.
Optionally, you can also configure virtual fibre channel adapters, Tivoli® agents and clients, and
configure the Virtual I/O Server as
an LDAP client.
Important: Before you upgrade an
existing POWER5™ Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) to a POWER6™VIOS, you must configure
the maximum virtual I/O slot number and any virtual Ethernet, virtual
serial, or virtual SCSI adapters
that use VIOS slots
0 through 10. Understand the applicable configuration rules, by reviewing VIOS configuration rules when upgrading
an existing system.
