Logical Host Ethernet Adapter (LHEA) Configuration

Use this window to configure the virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) in which the selected logical port on the Logical Host Ethernet Adapter (LHEA) can participate. This allows you to connect VLANs on your managed system to external networks through a Host Ethernet Adapter (HEA). HEAs are also known as Integrated Virtual Ethernet adapters (IVE adapters).

Note: Shared memory partitions cannot have Logical Host Ethernet Adapters, so if you specified that this partition uses shared memory, you will not be able to assign Logical Host Ethernet Adapter to this partition.

The logical port does not need to participate in any VLANs. You can set the logical port to accept packets with any VLAN ID, or you can set the logical port to accept only packets with VLAN IDs that you specify. You can specify up to 20 individual VLAN IDs for each logical port.

If the selected logical port on the LHEA belongs to a running logical partition or to a logical partition that has previously been activated, any changes that you make here do not take effect until you remove the logical port from the logical partition and add the logical port back to the logical partition with the changed VLAN configuration. To apply a VLAN configuration change to a logical port that belongs to such a logical partition, complete either of the following:
