LHEA Capability

Select the capability level that you want to assign to the Logical Host Ethernet Adapter (LHEA). The capability level determines the amount of resources from the physical Host Ethernet Adapter (HEA) that the LHEA can use in addition to the base minimums used by the logical ports.

If you do not need to use per-connection queuing with this LHEA, set this field to Base Minimum.

The base minimum resources allow you to use the logical ports without per-connection queuing. If you allocate resources in addition to the base minimum resources, you can use the logical ports with per-connection queuing, but you limit the number of logical partitions that can use the resources on the physical HEA.

Valid values are:

• Base Minimum - no additional HEA resources
• Low - low level of HEA resources for per-connection queueing, maximum of 32 logical partitions using physical HEA resources
• Medium - medium level of HEA resources for per-connection queueing, maximum of 16 logical partitions using physical HEA resources
• High - high level of HEA resources for per-connection queueing, maximum of 4 logical partitions using physical HEA resources
• Dedicated - all HEA resources are dedicated to the logical partition
• Custom - custom level of physical HEA resources specified using the HMC command-line interface

The Custom value displays only if you set the resource amounts for this LHEA using the HMC command-line interface. Otherwise, the Custom value is not available.
