Virtual adapter table

This table displays a detailed list of the virtual I/O adapters that exist for this logical partition or partition profile or that will exist for the logical partition or partition profile when you click OK.

This list can contain the following information.

Type
This column displays the adapter type for virtual SCSI adapters and virtual serial adapters. Valid values are Client SCSI, Client Serial, Client Fibre Channel, Ethernet, Server SCSI, Server Serial, Server Fibre Channel, and VASI.
Adapter ID
This column displays the slot number for each virtual adapter.
Connecting Partition
This column displays the partition ID of the logical partition to which this virtual adapter can connect. If Any Partition displays, the virtual adapter can connect to any logical partition on the managed system. This column contains valid values only for virtual SCSI adapters and virtual serial adapters.
Connecting Adapter
This column displays the slot number of the virtual adapter to which this virtual adapter can connect. If Any Partition Slot displays, the virtual adapter can connect to any adapter of the complementary type on the managed system, provided that the other adapter is set to accept the connection. For example, if this is a virtual server serial adapter, and Any Partition Slot displays, this adapter can connect to any virtual client serial adapter on the managed system that is set to accept the connection. This column contains valid values only for virtual SCSI adapters and virtual serial adapters.
Required
Shows whether each virtual adapter is required for this partition profile.
When you activate a partition profile, the managed system reserves a certain amount of memory to run the virtual adapters associated with that partition profile. If the managed system does not have enough memory to run the required virtual adapters for the partition profile, the managed system does not activate the logical partition.
Slots 0 and 1 are always required for the system-created virtual adapters that allow the HMC to access the logical partition.
