NTP Configuration

Use this page to enable or disable Network Time Protocol (NTP) service for this HMC and to add or remove currently defined time servers in NTP configuration file.

NTP was developed as an Internet protocol to synchronize the clocks of computers to some time reference. NTP synchronizes time between systems to ensure such things as transactions and recovery procedures have the same time reference.

Click the Enable NTP on this HMC check box to enable this service on this HMC; not clicking the check box disables NTP on this HMC.

The currently defined time servers in the NTP configuration file are listed in the table.

• To add a time server hostname or IP address to the NTP configuration file, click Add NTP Server and specify the hostname or IP address.
• To delete an NTP server from the configuration file and from the list, select a server from the list and click Remove NTP Server.
