Import Service Key

Use this window to import a service-key file into this Hardware Management Console (HMC). The service-key file contains the service key that the HMC uses to authenticate to your KDC servers. Service-key files are also known as keytabs. After importing a service-key file into the HMC, you must reboot the HMC for the change to take effect.

You can import a service-key file from one of these sources:

Before you can import a service-key file into an HMC, you must use your KDC server to generate a service key for the HMC. The exact method used to generate service keys depends on the operating environment of your KDC server.

File location
Specify the full path of the service-key file that you want to import into the HMC from removable media such as an optical disc or USB Mass Storage device. You must specify the full path of the service-key file on the media. You must use this option locally at the HMC (not remotely), and you must mount the removable media to the HMC before using this option.
Hostname/IP address
Specify either the host name or the IP address of the remote site from which you want to import the service-key file. This information is required when you select Remote as the source for the service-key file.
User ID
Specify the user ID that you want to use to connect to the remote site. This information is required when you select Remote as the source for the service-key file.
Password
Specify the password for the user ID that you want to use to connect to the remote site. If you do not specify the password, you are prompted to enter the password when you connect to the FTP site. This information is required when you select Remote as the source for the service-key file.
Service-key file location
Specify the fully qualified path location on the remote site that contains the service-key file that you want to import. If you do not enter a path, the HMC expects to find the service-key file in the default path specified on the remote site.
