Use this panel to power on a managed system that is in the manufacturing default configuration. The manufacturing default configuration is the initial partition setup of the managed system.
A managed system that is in manufacturing default configuration has the following attributes:
When you send the managed system into HMC-managed partition mode, the single logical partition is retained, but the logical partition can no longer report issues or apply fixes. Also, you might need to reconfigure the single logical partition before you can activate the logical partition in HMC-managed partition mode. For these reasons, it is recommended that you keep the managed system in the manufacturing default configuration until you are ready to partition your managed system.
Using the HMC to create or delete any logical partitions or to change any logical partition property other than name, I/O pool, keylock position, IPL type, or boot mode will also send the managed system into HMC-managed partition mode.
