The operating system for the logical partition is either AIX or Linux.IBM i
The operating system for the logical partition is IBM i.Virtual I/O server
A virtual I/O server logical partition is a logical partition that is dedicated to providing disk resources to other logical partitions. Virtual I/O servers use a simplified operating system that allows you to manage and back up disk resources quickly and easily. For some server models, Virtual I/O server is an option for which you must obtain and enter an activation code. If you have not yet entered this activation code for these server models, the Virtual I/O server option will be unavailable.
