Indicates the following settings related to service and support:
Connection monitoring: Indicates whether connection monitoring is enabled between the Hardware Management Console (HMC) and the logical partition. When connection monitoring is enabled, the Service Focal Point (SFP) application periodically tests the communications channel between this logical partition and the HMC. If the channel does not work, the SFP application generates a serviceable event in the SFP log. This ensures that the communications channel can carry service requests from the logical partition to the HMC when needed. You can change this setting only by activating the logical partition using a partition profile that is set to enable connection monitoring.
Service partition: Indicates whether the logical partition is the service partition for the managed system. The service partition is the IBM i logical partition on an IBM System i managed system that you can configure to apply server firmware updates to the service processor or to the hypervisor and to communicate server common hardware errors to IBM. These abilities are useful if the HMC is undergoing maintenance or is otherwise unable to perform these functions. You must change the service partition on the managed system through Managed System Properties.
Redundant error path reporting: Indicates whether the logical partition is set to report server common hardware errors to the HMC. The service processor is the primary path for reporting server common hardware errors to the HMC. Selecting this option allows you to set up redundant error reporting paths in addition to the error reporting path provided by the service processor. You can change this setting only by activating the logical partition using a partition profile that is set to enable redundant error path reporting.
Electronically report errors that cause partition termination or require attention: Indicates whether the HMC sends an electronic report to service and support whenever the IBM i logical partition terminates abnormally or encounters an error that requires service. (The HMC does not report errors that requires user intervention.) Use this feature to enable automatic service calls for IBM i logical partitions that run mission-critical applications. You can change this field at any time. The change takes effect when you click OK. This setting is also updated whenever you activate the logical partition, based upon how the partition profile is set. This field displays only for IBM i logical partitions.
Time Reference: Indicates whether the partition has been designated as a Time Reference Partition (TRP). The possible values are Enabled and Disabled. The default is Disabled. Use this feature to synchronize the migrating partition's Time of Day (TOD) delta with the source and destination servers. These will be the same if the source and destination servers are running an NTP client connected to the same NTP server. The TRP can be any type of partition (RPA, IBM i, VIOS). This partition attribute is supported only on managed systems that are capable of active partition migration. More than one TRP can be specified per server, so the longest running TRP is recognized as the TRP of the system. You can change this value at any time. The change takes effect when you click OK.
