Serial

Shows the following information about the virtual serial adapters associated with this partition:

Slot ID

Shows the virtual slot ID of the virtual serial adapter. This value is a number from 0 to 65 535.

Type

Indicates whether the virtual serial adapter is a client device or a server device.

Supports HMC Client

Indicates whether the virtual serial adapter is enabled for Hardware Management Console (HMC) client support.

Remote Partition ID

If the virtual adapter is a client serial adapter, this field shows the partition ID for the server adapter to which this client adapter connects. This field is required for client serial adapters.

If the virtual adapter is a server serial adapter, this field shows the partition ID for the only client adapter that is allowed to connect to this server adapter. This field is optional for server adapters, unless a value is specified for Remote Slot ID. If both the Remote Slot ID and Remote Partition ID fields are blank for a server adapter, any appropriate client adapter can connect to this server adapter.

Remote Slot ID

If the virtual adapter is a client serial adapter, this field shows the ID of the slot for the server adapter to which this client adapter connects. This field is required for client serial adapters.

If the virtual adapter is a server serial adapter, this field shows the slot ID for the only client adapter that is allowed to connect to this server adapter. This field is optional for server adapters, unless a value is specified for Remote Partition ID. If both the Remote Slot ID and Remote Partition ID fields are blank for a server adapter, any appropriate client adapter can connect to this server adapter.
