Use this panel to select the paging VIOS partition you want to use.
When you migrate a logical partition that uses shared memory, a shared memory pool configured with a paging VIOS partition, paging space devices, and available memory must exist on the destination managed system. The HMC will discover any available paging VIOS partitions that are configured to support the shared memory pool available on the destination managed system. For active logical partition migration, a redundant paging space device suitable for the migrating partition must be available on the target system.
If you are configuring the mobile partition to use paging VIOS redundancy on the destination managed system, select a primary paging VIOS from those available on the destination managed system:
Primary paging VIOSBy default, the HMC will search the target destination system for, discover, and select the best primary paging VIOS option. You can modify this selection and choose an alternative VIOS partition with paging space device support to act as the primary paging VIOS partition. When redundancy is successfully configured for the migrating partition, paging space device access through both VIOS partitions will be available to the shared memory partition on the destination system, and if the primary VIOS partition fails, the hypervisor will fail-over and send all current and future paging requests to the secondary paging VIOS.Note: Because the paging space devices used by both the primary and secondary VIOS partitions are located on the Storage Area Network, both partitions access the exact same devices.
If you are not configuring the mobile partition to use paging VIOS redundancy on the destination managed system, select a paging VIOS from those configured to the shared memory pool on the destination managed system to be designated as the primary and only paging VIOS for the partition.
This panel only appears when you migrate a partition that uses shared memory.
