(List of virtual adapters)
This area lists the virtual adapters for this partition profile. The list is ordered by slot number.
This area contains the following columns:
- Slot Number
The slot number that is used for this virtual Ethernet adapter. The slot number identifies the virtual adapter within the logical partition. (The combination of the slot number and the logical partition ID uniquely identify this slot within the managed system.)
- Type
The type for each virtual adapter (and, where appropriate, whether the virtual adapter is a server or a client). The valid values are as follows.
- Ethernet
- Serial server
- Serial client
- SCSI server
- SCSI client
- Required
Indicates whether each virtual adapter is required for this partition profile. You can change the status for each virtual adapter status by clicking this option.
When you specify a virtual adapter for a logical partition, the managed system reserves a certain amount of memory to run the virtual adapter. If you select this option and the server does not have enough memory to run this virtual adapter when you activate this partition profile, the managed system does not activate the logical partition.
Slots 0 and 1 are always required for the system-created virtual adapters that allow the Hardware Management Console to access the logical partition.
