Use this wizard to establish a connection between the Hardware Management Console (HMC) and the service processors on one or more managed systems over an open network.
An open network is a network that connects devices other than HMCs and service processors. If Ethernet ports other than the service processor port are connected to the network, or if the network is connected to an external network, then the network is an open network.
Before you use this wizard, you must assign an IP address or host name to the service processor on the managed system. You can manually assign an IP address to the service processor by using the Advanced System Management Interface (ASMI), or you can use a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server on the open network to assign an IP address to the service processor.
