Inactive processors available for Reserve CoD

This field displays the total number of inactive processors that are available for Reserve CoD. Reserve CoD allows you to prepay for a specified number of processor days. You can then activate the inactive processors that are installed on your managed system as your business requires.

The activated processors are placed in the default shared processor pool, where they are used as needed by uncapped partitions. Whenever the capacity of the non-Reserve CoD processors in the default shared processor pool is no longer sufficient to support the workload, then the Reserve CoD processors are used. When a Reserve CoD processor is used, a reserve processor day is charged against the Reserve CoD prepaid number of days. You pay only for the number of processor days that the processors are actually used. The processors can remain active until the number of days you have paid for has been used.
