Manage Dumps
Use this window to
manage procedures for dumps of
the selected system.
Select a dump from the list
for this HMC and click the Selected
menu to perform a dump-related task on that dump:
- Copy Dump to Media
- Allows you to copy the dump to removeable media (selectable), such as a
DVD-RAM or USB Flash Memory Device.
- Copy Dump to Remote System
- Allows you to copy the dump to another system
using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
- Call Home Dump
- Allows you to use the Call Home feature to transmit the dump
back to your service provider, for example IBM
Remote Support, for further analysis.
- Delete Dump
- Allows you to delete a selected dump from the list of available dumps.
Click the Action
menu to initiate a new dump:
- Initiate System Dump
- Allows you to initiate a dump of the hardware and server firmware content
(platform) for the managed system.
- Initiate Service Processor Dump
- Initiate System Controller Dump - Allows you to initiate a dump of the
service processor. The service processor allows the HMC to communicate to the
managed system and to control the managed system.
- Initiate Node Controller Dump - Similar to the Service Processor
dump with the exception that the dump data is generated by the node controller
hardware instead of the system controller.
- Initiate Power Subsystem Dump
- Allows you to initiate a dump of the Bulk Power Control service processor.
Only applicable to certain models of managed systems.
- System Dump Parameters
- Allows you to modify the dump capability parameters for a dump type.
Click the Status menu to view
the dump offload progress expressed in size.
For example, the progress will display as
xxx of yyy blocks completed.
- Reporting HMC
- Displays the HMC hostname where this task was launched.
- Dump table
- Displays all dumps that currently reside on the HMC where this task was launched. Both reported and non-reported dumps from the problem analysis subsystem
are displayed. An example of a non-reported dump is a dump that was manually
initiated.
This table shows the the dump type, unique identifier for that specific dump
type and the date the dump file written to the HMC. Additional details
associated with each dump are listed below the table. These include the dump
file name, file size, the entitled system's machine type-model/serial number,
the replaceable unit serial number, (if applicable), the problem number assigned
to this dump, whether or not this particular problem has been called home for
service, and the SRC that caused this dump to be taken.
- Refresh
- Updates and redisplays the managed system dump data.
