Use this window to view the state of the connection from the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to side A and side B of the bulk power assembly. The HMC will operate normally with a connection to either side A or side B. However, for code update operations and some concurrent maintenance operations, the HMC needs connections to both sides.
The following columns are displayed:
- IP Address
- The IP address of a bulk power assembly side is displayed. The IP address is a unique, 32-bit integer. The address is expressed in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where each field is the decimal representation of one byte (8 bits) of the address. For example, the IP address whose hexadecimal representation is X'82638001' is expressed as 130.99.128.1. The IP address is always specified in conjunction with its subnet mask. The subnet mask specifies which bits of the IP address belong to the network portion of the IP address and which bits of the IP address belong to the host portion of the IP address.
- Bulk Power Assembly Side
- This column indicates whether the connection is to side A or side B of the bulk power assembly.
- Connection State
- The state of the HMC connection is displayed. If the state is not Connected, the error code that indicates the reason for the connection failure is shown in the Connection Error Code column.
- Connection Error Code
- The error code that indicates the reason for the connection failure is displayed. This column is blank when the value in the Connection State column is Connected.
