Modify Virtual Media Partition Assignment

Use this page to change the partition assignment for the specified virtual optical media file.

Media name

This field displays the name of the virtual optical media file for which you are changing partition assignments.

Access Mode

This field allows you to select the mount type for the media file. Possible values for the mount type are Read only and Read/Write. A media file with a mount type of Read only can be assigned to more than one virtual optical device.

Assignable Partitions table

This table lists the virtual partitions to which the virtual optical media can be assigned. This table includes the following information for each partition:

LPAR Name
This column displays the name and partition ID of the logical partition.
Current Media
This column displays the names of any virtual optical media currently assigned to the partition.
LPAR State
This column displays the current state of the logical partition to which each physical optical device is currently assigned (if any). Possible values for the current partition state are:
Running
The logical partition is powered on and running.
Starting
The logical partition is in the process of powering on.
Open Firmware
The logical partition is in System Management Services (SMS) mode. The logical partition is in SMS mode if the server cannot find the boot device, if the logical partition is set to use SMS boot mode or Open Firmware OK prompt boot mode, or if the user presses F1 while starting the logical partition.
Not Activated
The logical partition is shut down. If the managed system is powered off, the state of the logical partition is always Off.
Shutting down
The logical partition is in the process of powering off.
Migrating - Running
The logical partition is in the process of migrating to or from the current system and is powered on and running.
Migrating - Not Activated
The logical partition is in the process or migrating to or from the current system and is not yet active.
Error
The logical partition is running, but it requires attention. Use the partition reference code to determine the problem.
Unknown
The logical partition requires attention. There is no partition reference code that you can use to determine the problem.
