Guided Setup - Change hscroot Password
The user IDs referred to in this wizard are the user IDs for this HMC, not the operating systems.
The predefined passwords for hscroot and root should be changed immediately:
- The predefined password for hscroot is abc123.
- The predefined password for root is passw0rd.
Use the hscroot user ID to access the user interface and manage the HMC.
A service provider uses the root user ID to perform maintenance on the server.
Follow these password rules:
- The password must contain at least 7 characters,
however, this limit might be changed by your system administrator.
- The characters should be standard 7-bit ASCII characters.
- These characters include the characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and many special
characters such as tilde (~), exclamation mark (!), at sign (@), number sign (#),
dollar sign ($), percent sign (%), caret (^), ampersand (&), asterisk (*),
left and right parentheses ( ), underscore (_), plus sign (+),
hyphen (-), equals sign (=), left and right curly braces ({ }),
left and right square brackets ([ ]),
backslash (\), colon (:), quotation mark ("), semicolon (;), and apostrophe (').
Note: Passwords may include special characters, but passwords should not begin with a hyphen (-) so that the command line will not mistake it as an option.

Operations Guide for the Hardware Management Console.
