Select Local or UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) using the down arrow in the entry field.
If Local time is selected, the HMC's basic input/output system (BIOS, or internal battery operated) clock is set to the local current time in the timezone selected (if any).
If set to UTC, the BIOS clock is internally offset by the timezone amount offset from the UTC. For example, if your operating system is running on Eastern timezone, the BIOS clock is set to that time plus the timezone offset of 5 hours. Some system applications will utilize the BIOS clock for time stamping in log files, where other daily applications can use the current time in the timezone. This depends on how the applications read the clock.
The HMC will automatically apply all timezone rules for the selected timezone if the clock is set to UTC, including daylight saving time.
