Add KDC Server

Use this window to add a Key Distribution Center (KDC) server to this HMC. The HMC uses the KDC server for Kerberos remote authentication.

Hostname or IP address
Specify the host name or IP address for the new Key Distribution Center (KDC) server. Host names entered here are resolved using the DNS server or DNS specified at Change Network Settings under HMC Management.
Realm
Specify the Kerberos realm that you want to use for the new Key Distribution Center (KDC) server. By default, this realm is the realm specified in Default realm on the Key Distribution Center Configuration window. You can change this realm if desired. A Kerberos realm is an administrative domain, site, or logical network that uses Kerberos remote authentication. Each realm uses a master Kerberos database that is stored on a KDC server and that contains information about the users and services for that realm. A realm might also have one or more slave KDC servers, which store read-only copies of the master Kerberos database for that realm. By convention, a realm name is the same as the domain name or host name associated with that realm, except that the realm name uses uppercase letters instead of lowercase letters. (For example, MIT.EDU is a valid realm name.) The realm name must be the same as the domain name if you import a service-key file into the HMC.
