Add I/O Adapters

Use this window to add I/O slots to a logical partition without restarting the logical partition. When you add an I/O slot to a logical partition, the I/O adapter in that I/O slot and the devices that are controlled by the I/O adapter can be used by the logical partition. This function is typically used to share infrequently used devices among logical partitions by moving these devices from one logical partition to another.

Many I/O adapters that are used by IBMi require the use of an I/O processor (IOP). If you want to add such an I/O adapter to an IBMi logical partition, you must also add the I/O processor slot and all of the other slots that are controlled by the I/O processor to the IBMi logical partition.

To display the properties of any of the I/O devices, select the device in this area and click Properties.
