This field displays the the amount of memory that is currently assigned to the logical partition.
If the memory mode of the logical partition is Shared, this field displays the amount of logical memory that the shared memory partition uses. If the memory mode of the logical partition is Dedicated, this field displays the amount of physical memory that is assigned to the logical partition.
When you activate a logical partition that uses dedicated memory, if the assigned amount of memory is available on the managed system, the dedicated memory partition starts with the assigned amount of memory. However, if the assigned amount of memory is not available, but the amount of physical memory is equal to or greater than the minimum amount of memory in the partition profile, the dedicated memory partition starts with the available amount of memory.
When you activate a logical partition that uses shared memory, the shared memory partition is assigned the desired amount of logical memory.
This value is set by the partition profile used to activate the logical partition. However, you can dynamically change the amount of memory that is assigned to the logical partition by using the Add/Remove Memory task. The amount of assigned memory must be within the minimum and maximum memory values set in the partition profile. You can also change the assigned amount of memory specified for the logical partition by shutting down the logical partition and using a partition profile with a different assigned memory value to restart the logical partition.
