Use this page to specify memory management information for this partition profile. You must specify three memory settings: the minimum memory, the desired memory, and the maximum memory.
When you select Shared on the Memory page, this page describes the logical memory to be assigned to the shared memory partition. When you select Dedicated on the Memory page, this page describes the physical memory to be assigned to the shared memory partition.
When you activate a partition profile that specifies dedicated memory, the system commits a memory amount to the logical partition. The memory amount that the system commits to the logical partition depends upon the settings on this page and the availability of system resources. The memory that is committed to the logical partition remains committed until you dynamically move the memory or shut down the logical partition.
When you activate a partition profile that specifies shared memory, the system does not commit a memory amount to the logical partition. The logical memory for the partition is set to the desired memory amount.
Note: If you activate a shared memory partition and the shared memory pool does not contain enough physical memory required for activation, you can release memory that is currently assigned to other shared memory partitions that are shut down. The hypervisor can then assign the released memory to the shared memory partition that you want to activate.
