Console Device

Use this page to select the console device that is associated with this partition profile.

If you chose to use an I/O device as your console device controller, you can designate either an I/O processor (IOP) or an I/O adapter (IOA) as your console device controller. You can choose from any of the devices that you selected for the partition profile on the I/O page. If the device that you want to use as the console device controller does not display on this page, click Back until you return to the I/O page, select the console device controller for this partition profile, and click Next until you return to this page.

If you chose to use a logical port as your console device, this page displays only logical ports that you selected for the partition profile on the Logical Host Ethernet Adapters (LHEA) page. If the logical port that you want to use does not display on this page, click Back until you return to the Logical Host Ethernet Adapters (LHEA) page, add the logical port to this partition profile, and click Next until you return to this page.

Consider your backup console device strategy when choosing which type of device is to be your console device.
