Operations Console Device

Use this window to select or change the directly attached Operations Console device that is associated with this partition profile. (This was formerly known as the ECS device.) The directly attached Operations Console device is an adapter used to support either a directly attached Operations Console or to support an asynchronous modem. Connect the Operations Console device to an external line so that your managed system can send information to your support provider when the managed system encounters problems.

Do not select a device here if the Operations Console device for this managed system is connected to a Local Area Network (LAN).

Only one logical partition per managed system needs to have a directly attached Operations Console device enabled.

This window displays only devices that are selected for this partition profile on the Physical I/O page. If the communications device you want to use does not display here, click Cancel, click Physical I/O, and ensure that the communications device is selected for the partition profile.

Any change you make on this window takes effect only after you shut down the logical partition and reactivate the logical partition that is associated with this partition profile.
