Manage Dumps, Initiate Dump
Use this window to initiate a system dump for the selected managed system
or a service processor dump.
- When you initiate a system dump, all applications on
active partitions of the managed system will end abnormally.
- Initiating a service processor dump or power subsystem dump should not cause
any disruption to the managed system, unless an unexpected error occurs. In that
case a temporary loss in communication to the managed system may occur.
- When initiating a service processor dump, choose from:
- Initiate System Controller Dump - Allows you to initiate a dump of the
service processor. The service processor allows the HMC to communicate to the
managed system and to control the managed system.
- Initiate Node Controller Dump - Similar to the Service Processor
dump with the exception that the dump data is generated by the node controller
hardware instead of the system controller.
- Selected system
- Displays the selected managed system, or controller location code in the case
of Node Controller dumps, on which a dump can be performed.
- Dump type
- Displays the type of dump that will be performed:
- System dump - The entire managed system including active partitions.
- Service Processor dump - The service processor includes service and error
logs.
- Power System dump - The BPC service processor information.
