Virtual Fibre Channel

Use this page to view the main properties of the physical fibre channel ports that support N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) on fibre channel adapters that are installed and connected within your managed system. You also can use this page to modify which partitions connect to specific physical ports.

The physical ports table includes the following information about each physical port:

Name
This column displays the name of each physical port that supports NPIV on fibre channel adapters within the managed system.
Description
This column displays information about the characteristics of the physical port.
Physical location code
This column displays the specific physical location code that identifies the location of the physical port within the managed system.
Connected partitions
This column displays the number of connections to this physical port that are assigned to logical partitions on the managed system.
Available connections
This column displays the number of remaining connections that are available for the physical port. If the value is 0, the port is not available for selection.

You can sort this table by any of these categories by clicking the appropriate column heading.

Tasks

The Modify Partition Connections task is available from the toolbar at the top of the physical ports table. Use this task to view and specify which logical partitions, if any, have connections to the physical port.

To perform this task, you must select a single physical port in the table before you select the task. You can select a port by clicking the Select option beside the port entry in the table.
