Physical Volumes

Use this tab to view the properties of the physical volumes on your managed system and to start physical volume maintenance tasks.

The toolbar at the top of the Physical Volumes table contains tasks that you can perform. To perform most tasks, you must select one or more physical volumes in the table before you select the task that you want to perform. You can select a physical volume by clicking the Select option beside the appropriate entry in the table.

The table includes the following information about each physical volume:

Name
This column displays the name of each physical volume.
Storage Pool
This column displays the name of the storage pool, if any, to which each physical volume belongs.
Assigned Partition
This column displays the partition name and partition ID of the logical partition to which each physical volume is assigned (if any).
Size
This column displays the size of each physical volume in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), or terabytes (TB).
Physical Location Code
This column displays the physical location code identifying the location of each physical volume within the managed system.

You can sort this table by any of these categories by clicking the appropriate column heading.

Note: If a physical volume is defined as a paging space device as part of a shared memory pool configuration for the managed system, the entire physical volume is dedicated to providing this function and is no longer available for any other purpose. Consequently, such a physical volume is not listed here.

Tasks

The following tasks are available from the toolbar at the top of the Physical Volumes table. To perform most tasks, you must select one or more physical volumes in the table before you select the task that you want to perform. Some tasks allow you to perform actions on multiple physical volumes while other tasks allow you to perform an action on a single physical volumes only. You can select a physical volume by clicking the Select option beside the appropriate entry in the table.
