Analyzing error log–Results

Use the Analyzing Error Log panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to view the results of an analyzed error log. These results are displayed based on options set on the Error Log Analysis panel.

Introduction

Each error is displayed in the table. Details of each listed error can be displayed by clicking on the sequence number of any record.

If the table consists of several pages, arrow links are displayed at the bottom of the table so that you can scroll through the table. To view a specific page of the table, enter the page number in the field next to the Go to page button and click Go to page. Click the sequence number for a specific entry to display additional information for that entry.
Note: If the entry is an error record, you can modify its status. For example, you can change a fixed error to unfixed, and an unfixed error to fixed.

Attributes

The following attributes are displayed in the table:

Node Identifier
Displays the name of the node on which the error or event occurred. If the event applies to a specific node, for example, it indicates that the fibre-channel port of the node is not working, then the node identifier is indicated here. If the event applies to the cluster rather than to a node, for example, a license limit is exceeded, then this field is set to 0.
Object Type
Displays the object type for the error or event. The following object types can be displayed for the selected node:
  • Node
  • FlashCopy consistency group
  • Metro Mirror or Global Mirror consistency group
  • FlashCopy mapping
  • Metro Mirror or Global Mirror mapping
  • Cluster
  • Device
  • Managed disk (MDisk)
  • MDisk group
  • Virtual disk (VDisk)
  • Space-efficient VDisk copy
  • Host
  • I/O group
  • SCSI logical unit number (LUN)
  • Quorum
  • System board
  • Processor
  • Memory module
  • Fan
  • Fibre-channel card
  • Front panel
  • Port
  • Adapter
  • E-mail server
  • Ethernet port
Object ID
Displays the system-assigned identifier for the object type.
Sequence Number
Displays a number that identifies the event. Where appropriate, sense data is returned to host systems references the sequence number. You can click the sequence number to get detailed information on the entry.
Time Stamp
Displays the date and time when the error or event occurred.
Error Code
Displays the error or event code. This number is used as the starting point for service procedures.
Type
Displays the type of error or event.
The Type field contains an icon and a text message to indicate the cause of the log entry.
Table 1. Descriptions of log entry icons
Icon Description
error icon
The error icon indicates that this log entry requires service activity. Select Run Maintenance Procedures from the Service and Maintenance menu to start the repair activity.
fixed icon
The fixed icon indicates that a problem existed, but it has now been resolved. It might have been resolved as a result of service activity, or it might have been resolved as a result of some other action, for example, powering on a missing node.
warn icon
The warn icon indicates that some condition has occurred that might have been caused by a temporary problem or by a problem that is external to the SAN Volume Controller, such as an error in a RAID controller. If a specified number of these events occurs in 25 hours, the warning converts to an error. No service action is required on the SAN Volume Controller for this log entry.
info icon
The info icon indicates that the log entry provides information about a configuration change or the state of a command. In some cases, the SAN Volume Controller user might need to take some action based on this information.
Message
