Adding users

You can add users of the SAN Volume Controller Console with the Adding a user panel.

On the Adding a user panel you define a User Name, a password, and a role for the user. You must have administrator authority to add a user.

Passwords can be strings of 6 -14 ASCII characters. You can use the following characters: a - z, A - Z, 0-9, -, ., /, or _.

You can choose one of the following roles for a user:

Role	Description
Administrator	A user with this role can perform all actions for a cluster.
Service	A user with this role can only issue the following CLI commands to service the cluster: svcservicetask, svcservicemodetask, and svcinfo. A person performing the service role can also view the View Clusters panel, launch the SAN Volume Controller Console, and view the progress of actions on clusters with the View Progress panel. A person performing the service role can their own password.
Operator	A user with this role can control all existing FlashCopy, Metro Mirror, and Global Mirror relationships, but cannot create or delete FlashCopy mappings and consistency groups, not can this user create or delete remote copy relationships and consistency groups. This user cannot perform any actions outside of the available actions for existing FlashCopy, Metro Mirror, and Global Mirror relationships.
Monitor	A user with this role can perform all viewing actions for a cluster. This user cannot perform any actions that change the state of the cluster or the resources that the cluster manages.
