If you are an administrator, you can change the passwords
and roles of the users of the SAN Volume Controller Console by using the Modifying a user panel.
Fields
The
following fields can be updated:
- User Name
- Displays the name of the user. You cannot update this field.
- New Password
- Enter a password for the user. Passwords can be strings of 6 -
8 ASCII characters. The following characters can be used: a - z, A
- Z, 0 - 9, -, ., /, or _.
- Re-Enter New Password
- Enter the same password.
- Choose a Role
- Select the role to associate with this user. The following values
are possible:
- Administrator
- Select this role if you want the users to view the View Clusters
panel and launch the SAN Volume Controller Console for
clusters. Users with this role can issue any command-line interface
(CLI) command.
- Service
- Select this role if you want the user to view the View Clusters
panel, launch the SAN Volume Controller Console, and view the progress
of actions on clusters with the View Progress panel. Users with this
role can only issue information and service CLI commands.
- Operator
- Select this role if you want the user to control all existing FlashCopy®, Metro Mirror, and Global Mirror
relationships. However, the user cannot create or delete FlashCopy mappings and consistency groups
nor can the user create or delete Metro Mirror and Global Mirror relationships
and consistency groups. This user cannot access any actions outside
of the available actions for existing FlashCopy,
Metro Mirror, and Global Mirror relationships.
- Monitor
- Select this role if you want the user to access all viewing actions
for a cluster. However, the user cannot access any actions that change
the state of the cluster or the resources that the cluster manages.
Actions
The
following actions are available:
- OK
- Click this button to change a user.
- Cancel
- Click this button to exit the panel without changing a user.
