Configuring partner node Ethernet port

Use the Configure Partner Node Ethernet Port panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to pre-set node Ethernet port addresses for a partner node that is currently offline.

Introduction

You may need to configure and test all your iSCSI settings while a node is missing from the cluster. You can use this panel to configure the partner node Ethernet port addresses. These addresses are activated on the working node in the I/O group until the partner node comes online. Therefore it is possible to test the connectivity to the iSCSI-attached host.

Attributes

The following attributes are displayed for the local node Ethernet port:

Ethernet port
Displays the name of the Ethernet port for the node being configured. Select the port name to display detailed information about the node Ethernet port.
Node
Displays the name of the node.
IPv4 Address
Displays the IPv4 address for the node Ethernet port.
IPv4 Subnet Mask
Displays the subnet mask of the node Ethernet port. Subnet masks are only valid for IPv4 addresses.
IPv4 Gateway
Displays the IPv4 default gateway for the node Ethernet port.
IPv6 Address
Displays the IPv6 address for the node Ethernet port.
IPv6 Prefix
Displays the network prefix to be associated with the node Ethernet port. Valid values are 0 - 127.
IPv6 Gateway
Displays the IPv6 default gateway for the node Ethernet port.

The following attributes are displayed for the partner node Ethernet port:

Ethernet port
Displays the name of the Ethernet port for the node being configured. Select the port name to display detailed information about the node Ethernet port.
Node
Displays the name of the partner node, if set.
IPv4 Address
Displays the failover IPv4 address for the node Ethernet port on the partner node.
IPv4 Subnet Mask
Displays the failover subnet mask of the node Ethernet port on the partner node. Subnet masks are only valid for IPv4 addresses.
IPv4 Gateway
Displays the failover IPv4 default gateway for the node Ethernet port on the partner node.
IPv6 Address
Displays the failover IPv6 address for the node Ethernet port on the partner node.
IPv6 Prefix
Displays the failover network prefix for the node Ethernet port on the partner node. Valid values are 0 - 127.
IPv6 Gateway
Displays the failover IPv6 default gateway for the node Ethernet port on the partner node.

Fields

If you select IPv4 address format, the following fields can be updated:

IP Address
Enter the failover IP address for node Ethernet port on the partner node.
Subnet Mask
Enter a valid subnet mask for the failover node Ethernet port.
Gateway
Enter the failover default gateway for node Ethernet port on the partner node.
If you select IPv6 address format, the following fields can be updated:
IP Address
Enter the failover IP address for the node Ethernet port on the partner node. The SAN Volume Controller supports the following IPv6 formats:
  • Eight colon-separated groups of four hexadecimal digits; for example, 1234:1234:abcd:0123:0000:0000:7689:6576
  • Eight colon-separated groups of hexadecimal digits with leading zeros omitted; for example, 1234:1234:abcd:123:0:0:7689:6576
  • Zero suppression format; for example, 1234:1234:abcd:123::7689:6576
Note: You can only suppress one set of zeros in an address.
Prefix
Enter the network prefix to be associated with the node Ethernet port on the partner node. Valid values are 0 - 127.
Gateway
Enter the default gateway for the node Ethernet port on the partner node.
