All configuration actions and service actions
are performed
at the cluster level. Therefore, after configuring a cluster you can
take advantage of the virtualization and the advanced features of
the SAN Volume Controller.
You must create
a cluster before you configure it.
Perform
the following steps to configure a cluster:
- Add nodes to the cluster.
- Set up the cluster
properties.
- Create host objects that you can
map virtual disks (VDisks)
to.
- Identify and create any image-mode VDisks.
- Create managed disk (MDisk) groups from the MDisks
to make
pools of storage from which to create VDisks.
- Create
VDisks from the capacity that is available in your
MDisk groups. You must have available capacity (extents)
in the selected MDisks as well as available capacity in the MDisk
group.
- Map the VDisks to the host objects
to make the VDisks available
to the hosts as required.
- Optionally, create
Copy Services (FlashCopy and
Metro Mirror) objects as required.
