Use the Name the VDisk panel in the Creating VDisks for
Use as FlashCopy® Targets
wizard to specify a name for your target virtual disk (VDisk) or VDisks.
Introduction
Only
VDisks with unique names are created. If you have previously
created target VDisks and those names are duplicated here, they are
not created. You can check whether specified name for the VDisk exists
on the cluster by selecting Check Name Availability.
This action displays names which are currently defined on the cluster
and as a result are not created as a target VDisk. This results in
fewer VDisks created than you specified. However, if you want to create
the specified target VDisks regardless of name duplication, select
the Force Create option.
Fields
The
following fields can be updated:
- Force Create
- Select this option to create the specified number of target VDisk
even though VDisks currently exist on the cluster with the same name.
- Source VDisk Name
- Displays the name of the selected source VDisk.
- Target VDisk Name (Letters only)
- Enter the name of a target VDisk. Only non-numeric characters are allowed for the target
VDisk name. The target name is added to the source VDisk name. If
you are creating multiple target VDisks, the target VDisk names are
incremented to create the full name of the target VDisks. For example,
if the source VDisk is called vdisk0 and you want to create three
target VDisks with a target name of bkp, the resulting full names
for each target VDisk are vdisk0bkp1, vdisk0bkp2, and vdisk0bkp3.
You can also leave this field blank and allow the system to assign
names. Full names for the target VDisks cannot exceed 15 characters.
- Check Name Availability
- Click this button to display if the selected target VDisk names
are currently defined on the cluster. Only VDisks with unique names
are created. If you have previously created target VDisks and those
names are duplicated, they are not created.
