Creating a virtual disk–Select MDisk group (Copy 1)

Use the Select MDisk group (Copy 1) panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to specify attributes for a mirrored copy of a virtual disk (VDisk). You can create either a sequential or striped VDisk. Depending on the type of VDisk you are creating, different options are available.

Fields

Sequential VDisk
When you have selected to create a sequential VDisk, you can update the following fields for sequential VDisks:
Manage Disk Group
Select the MDisk group for the VDisk.
Use a single MDisk
Select this option to create a VDisk from a single MDisk.
Choose 1 managed disk
Select an MDisk from the list to create the VDisk.
Striped VDisks
You can update the following fields for striped VDisks:
Managed Disk Group
Select the MDisk group for the striped VDisk.

Attributes

Sequential VDisk
When you have selected to create a sequential VDisk, the following attributes are displayed:
VDisk Capacity
Displays the capacity for the VDisk. The following units are possible:
  • B
  • KB
  • MB
  • GB
  • TB
  • PB
VDisk Real Size
Displays the size that is allocated to the space-efficient VDisk. This value is displayed either as a percentage of the size or in megabytes (MB).
Note: This field is only available if you have selected to create a space-efficient VDisk.
Striped VDisks
When you have selected to create a striped VDisk, the following attributes are displayed:
VDisk Capacity
Displays the capacity for the VDisk. The following units are possible:
  • B
  • KB
  • MB
  • GB
  • TB
  • PB
VDisk Real Size
Displays the size that is allocated to the space-efficient VDisk. This value is displayed either as a percentage of the size or in megabytes (MB).
Note: This field is only available if you have selected to create a space-efficient VDisk.

Actions

The following actions are available:

Back
Click this button to return to the previous wizard panel.
Next
Click this button after you have completed this panel.
Cancel
Click this button to exit this wizard without creating the VDisk.
