Decoding sense data: Panel help

Use the Decoding Sense Data panel in the SAN Volume Controller Console to view detailed sense information. You might be asked to provide this information to your IBM® Support Center to aid with problem analysis.

Introduction

The information provides sense data for a selected error. Sense data is specific to this error or event code. This is a binary data record. When the data is viewed using the Web interface, this data is translated to ASCII characters. You are not normally required to interpret this data as part of the service procedures. The table that displays with decode sense data is unique to the specific error or event that is selected.

Attributes

The following attributes are displayed in the table:

Error ID: Displays the identifier for the error.
Description: Displays the text description of the error.
Item: Displays the name of the field that is contained within the sense.
Data: Displays the data that is associated with a field.
